Happiness coyote

For aeons my species have been mentally enslaved in our own senselessness
Cursed to chase the tail of a roadrunner named happiness
There we are, the coyote, hungry and desperate, foolish and relentless
Screaming life is unfair as the god of a cartoonist taunts the humourless

I wonder if the cheetah bolting though the Savannah worries about happiness
Or maybe it’s in the solemn  meeting of its canine and the jugular of a gazelle kicking in helplessness
The freedom to tap into the primal coding of being
The capacity to explore the vast possibilities of being

For aeons my species have pondered the great mysteries of life
The mysteries that where never there until he decided to ask why
