The inherent condition

As kids we walked as though the tides of change could never sweep our feet
As if we were immune to the things tomorrow could bring
Now we hold on to today as if yesterday is all we have
As the sun blazes away to a hearty laugh

I dream of the day when tomorrow wouldn’t matter
I hold for the day when love would somehow conquer
Conquer the agony of the human condition
Or happiness, pure undistilled joy

What’s the matter? What’s wrong?
Oh you say life has done you wrong
You say it all takes too long
So we live constantly on the run

But hey, we all have to fight for something right?
