Skin

Millimetres of flesh, an ounce of life
For summer’s heat or winter nights
Love for it, live for it
Hate for it, die for it

They say…
Cover it up, No! let it free
Feel the pain, let pleasure be

We fall for it, we fear for it
Metaphorically the iceberg’s tip

They say…
It’s who we are, not what defines us
Sets us apart, yet what binds us

Beneath that frail veil of matter lies an arsenal of fireworks
Screaming silently to burst out true colours
